Denise Chakoian-Olney opened her first CORE Studios location in April of 2006 after a long career in Corporate America. Since 2006, CORE has grown to include three locations: CORE Pilates Mind/Body Studio, CORE Personal Training Studio, and CORE Cycling + Fitness. The opening of her newly renovated Blackstone Plaza location in 2015, has pushed Denise to the forefront of Rhode Island’s Fitness Boutique scene.
Denise has been in the fitness industry for over 21 years. Trained from the early age of 5 in Tap, Jazz, and Ballet, she continued on competing and teaching dance until the age of 18. Soon after, Denise discovered her love for the group atmosphere she found in exercise classes. This, coupled with her strong background in dance, spurred her journey in fitness starting with a certification by A.F.A.A. (American Fitness Association of America) as a Group Exercise Instructor.
After teaching aerobics, Step Aerobics and Total Body sculpting classes in various health facilities for a number of years, Denise continued to drive deeper into the fitness industry. She has received training and certifications through Step Reebok, Mad Dogg Athletics Resist-A-Ball, NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine, Indo-Row, And Peak Pilates. As Owner and Founder of CORE Studios, Denise has designed her own Barre workout designed for her studio and her staff. She is currently in the process of being a Chek Practitioner. Denise is extremely passionate about her clients and love helping them achieve their goals.
For as long as Maryellen can remember, she has always been active, playing sports, running and just enjoying life. Being an athlete introduced her to training at an early age. Weight and endurance training helped her on and off the playing field. Maryellen took this love of fitness and became a personal trainer. Her goal as a personal trainer is to motivate, inspire, and educate others about the benefits of exercising and living a healthy lifestyle.
Maryellen believes that health and fitness is more than just your appearance; exercising makes us feel better and live healthier. With patience and persistence, anyone can achieve realistic goals, including high self-esteem, confidence, and a strong fit body. As a trainer she strives to create a positive relationship with all her clients. Maryellen believes she is there to provide encouragement, confidence, motivation, and strength, to help you reach your fitness goals!
She has been an A.C.E. certified personal trainer since 1999 as well as Johnny G Mad Dogg spin certified, adding Peak Pilates in 2000. Her nationally recognized 200 hour Vinyasa yoga and TRX certification were earned in 2006 and 2007, followed by a yoga Thai Massage training in 2009. Maryellen is also a level one Reiki practitioner.
She will bring a blended approach to your training; the journey, while reaching your goals, will never be boring!
Kim is a 13 year breast cancer survivor who decided to take charge of her health when she finished her treatment. She is passionate about exercise as a way to maintain health, and brings that passion and enthusiasm to CORE. Kim is certified through ACE (American Council on Exercise) as a Group Fitness Instructor and also as a Personal Trainer. She is also a certified Lifestyle Fitness Coach though DSW Fitness. Kim takes great pride in helping her clients reach “their best selves”. She is also CPR/AED certified. She currently lives in Swansea with her fiancée and 3 children, and enjoys racing in 5Ks or half marathons on the weekends. When time allows, she attends seminars and studies through correspondence courses to stay current in the fitness field.
She currently teaches a large variety of CORE’s Group X and Small Group Training classes. She is available for 1:1 or group training sessions. Her motto: Keep exercise fun for everyone!
Kristen has been teaching group fitness classes for over 15 years, as well as, teaching spinning classes for 7 years. Kristen is certified by A.F.A.A. (American Fitness Association of America); Yogafit, and Mad Dogg Athletics. Kristen holds a Bachelor Degree in Health Education and Nursing and a Masters Degree in Education. Kristen works full-time as a school nurse-teacher.
Katie has been running competitively for over 15 years, training and racing in distances from the 400m to the marathon. Originally from Albany, NY, Katie first came to Rhode Island to attend Providence College on a track scholarship. Having also worked in education she has always had a passion for teaching and coaching. Katie is NASAM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) certified, USATF (United States Track & Field Association) Level 1 Coaching certified and CPR/AED certified. Katie loves running and working out, and looks forward to sharing her passions with you!
A certified Madd Dogg Spinning Instructor, Maureen has been a fitness professional for 20 + years. She began her career as an instructor for the Body Firm and was chosen to be in their award winning fitness video. She went on to become an AFFA certified personal trainer and spin instructor. Maureen is an avid runner and has completed both the NYC and Boston marathons. ‘Fitness is a way of life for me, I have an enormous amount of passion for it and I am grateful that I enjoy it as much as I do.’
First off, Nicole loves teaching! Whether in the classroom, on the spin bike, or with a set of weights in her hands, she loves to teach people how to perform and be the best he or she can be! Secondly, She loves to run and eat healthy! Nicole says her favorite guilty pleasure food is pizza and chocolate chip cookies! She also loves to cook and bake! Finally, she loves to dance and make fitness classes fun and exciting while kicking butt!!!

While a freshman at Brown University, Tracy turned to the world of fitness instruction in 1998 after she outgrew the world of competitive sports for high school kids. As an avid field hockey, basketball, and softball player, Tracy wanted her classes to be more athletic driven and inspired by conditioning training that she had experienced in competitive sports.
Now over 10 years later, she is still teaching challenging group fitness classes incorporating athletic and simple moves as well as adventurous spin classes. In addition to being certified by the American Council on Exercise, Tracy is also trained in willPower & grace®, Spinning®, Peak Pilates MVe®, IndoRow®, and Core’s signature barre class.
